Head Pastor

Chip Bungard

Chip began his pastoral duties in 1992. In 2012, he, his wife Shannon, and their five children relocated to Newton, Kansas, to lead First Baptist Church.

Growing up as a pastor's kid, Chip was inspired by his father's dedication to ministry. His mother's faith and prayers were instrumental in his transformation during his rebellious teenage years, setting him on a trajectory to serve God wholeheartedly. All of this, plus the support of his siblings, Chad and Shoshanna, shaped his path and passion for pastoral work.

Chip has significantly contributed to the Newton community, playing a key role in starting Young Life and serving on various non-profit boards. He is passionate about preaching the Word of God and inspiring others to live their lives based on God's teachings.

In his free time, Chip enjoys reading, exercising, and spending quality time with his family. He is dedicated to expanding God's kingdom in the region and inspiring the community to live a legacy by fully following Jesus.
